Browser

Use desktop Chrome 142 or later. Allow screen capture and local network access when prompted. Other browsers and phones are not currently supported.

Receiver

Keep the receiver app open and use its displayed IP address. On the media console it is in Settings › Music & casting › Shrub Cast. You can add a port, for example 192.168.1.50:48621. Stop any existing session before connecting a new sender.

Network

Guest Wi-Fi isolation, a firewall or a VPN can block the connection. The receiver must allow this website’s origin. Private IPv6 addresses and localhost are also accepted.

Sound & privacy

Sound depends on your operating system and the screen or tab you select. Enable sound in the browser’s chooser too, if offered.

There is no video relay or account. Anyone on the allowed network can cast. Connection setup uses local HTTP and does not authenticate the receiver, so use a network you trust.
